Kol. Kal K Korff- International Man of Mystery ! ! !

Right around January of 2007 I quit my post with UFO Magazine after serving almost 20 years as Director of Research. It often seemed that the longer I was around the field, I was circled by crazy people. Oh, yes, on both sides. Project Serpo, the Dulce base, Steve Greer, to just name a very few on one side. Then the other side comes to mind, Phil Klass, Mike Shermer, Robert Sheaffer, Kal K Korff. Huh? Who in hell is Kal K Korff? Simply put, a genuine wacko.
After quitting active research I still would receive lots of emails about the field. One day (to my undying regret) I answered one email sent to me by Alfred Webre, another ozone smelling “new age” ET proponent, about whether Kal K Korff had ever worked at Lawrence Livermore Labs. I said I doubted it. I knew about Colonel Kal K Korff for years, a Walter Mitty kind of guy and also a skeptic. A Colonel I said? Yes, but not with the Armed Forces of the United States, but with the “Special Secret Services” of Israel! The what? Yes, you heard me. And he talks about it on the internet! Wanta see his picture?

Now this guy must be one hell of a soldier, he jumped from Captain to Kolonel in one fell swoop! Huh?
I suppose “krazy” knows no boundaries. Krazy Kal now lives and “works” in the Czech Republic. (I was told he had too many lawsuits waiting for him here in the U.S.) What really upset me was when he attacked Major Kevin Randle, a guy I know and a guy I respect. You see, Randle served in Viet Nam as a helicopter pilot, then in the last year did a tour in Iraq with the National Guard … still serving his country. ( Did I mention he is one of the premier Roswell UFO researchers also?) Anyway, knowing what a “pretender and BS artist” Korff is, I doubted another of his fantastic klaims! Ol’ KKK went on a rampage. Anyway, here is what I said to him last year.
“Greetings to Any and All. This little note is one that I’ve promised to send to “Colonel Kal K. Korff” and before I enclose what I have personally written to “Colonel Korff” a little background is in order. Some of this you may be aware of, some you may not be, and most of you probably will not care… but what the hell…. Read on anyway.

What’s it all about … Alfie?

Recently on a Dark Matters Forum thread, my producer dropped in a note talking about the huge expansion of the Hollow Effects Digital Network. (Dark Matters Radio is a part of the Hollow Effects family by the way.) Now, with us being a part of Talk Stream America and Live365 and so on, we are hitting a huge audience. Another forum user had this to say,
“By Crikey, as many as 245,000, that sounds very impressive, doesn’t it? You Yanks have made puffery into a fine art.” (Obviously from a Brit.)
I’ve been thinking about that remark for some time now. To be very honest, the show content of Dark Matters might seem to be “puffery” if one is ignorant of what we have tried to do for a long time.
For years my main beat was the topic of unidentified flying objects. I was Director of Research for UFO Magazine for 20 years. In all those years not only did I write and do radio programs of my own but guested on more than a 500 ( I am estimating) other shows and lots and lots of TV. I am sorry to say that “puffery” on many of those other radio and TV shows was more the norm than not. And, I could not begin to tell you how many times I was called by TV people wanting to “pick my brains” for their next big ratings grabber!
In my life before Dark Matters and UFO Magazine, I was a criminal investigator and cop. When I made the decision to enter this field I made a promise to myself that I would use those same skills to investigate these weird stories and cases. A prime example would be the “Larry King Live” show. I appeared on Larry King at least 5 times, and also on a pre-recorded interview on his Area 51 special. Now, if you’ve ever watched King you know he is not the toughest interviewer you’ve ever seen. Most folks refer to King as the “King of the softball questions.” The very last time he invited me on was when I called his producer to inform them of a very major story I broke involving the American Space Shuttle, mission STS-48. During this mission the Shuttle encountered a UFO while over Australia and New Zealand, and I had a tape of the live feed showing this thing.
They needed a skeptic and after I suggested Phil Klass, and he passed, I mentioned Dr. Jim Oberg, a NASA contract scientist. Oberg agreed and we met in late June of 1992. Larry was in Washington, Jim was in Houston and I was in Los Angeles. I determined then that I would play “hardball”; to be honest I was sick and tired of the way TV always “pussy-footed” around these topics. I asked Jim Oberg “what if, any, security restrictions might keep you from discussing these things (UFOs) that involve NASA or the military. He became upset and accused me of coming on LKL to sell magazines! At the time NASA was claiming that the “UFO” was actually waste water (frozen urine) floating in space from a water dump! (The only problem was that the shuttle had not yet made their water dump.)
Later during the telephone call-in session, Larry took two calls, both surprisingly from two NASA guys. One guy I knew, and he had been one of the guys first trying to get a Congressional investigation to look into this case. By this time, however, this guy was scared to death of what might happen to him “from the powers that be” and was trying to “diss” this case. I called him on it. Larry King was NOT AMUSED, as I later heard from his producer. Now, occasionally on this program you will hear a short audio clip of Larry King stating “I hope you’ve enjoyed this edition of Don Ecker Live … from Washington!” Larry did not enjoy my “take no prisoners” attitude. (He never invited me back either!)
What I have always tried to do is get to whatever truth is in a case. Be it UFOs, vampires, secret space programs, forbidden technology, whatever. I have always been an inquisitive kind of guy. I also utilize my “BS detector” and when someone is trying to convince me of something … I want to know what evidence they have. Be it UFO reports, be it stories of “real-honest-to-God” vampires, strange creatures from space and time, you name it … I just refuse to accept something outlandish at face value, if for no reason other than I respect my audience and over the years they have come to expect that I will not be taken in by stories just to get ratings. Of course not everyone appreciates this, some folks simply want to believe … they NEED to believe … and as a result they get angry with me.
I have said many times, however, as long as I do this I will maintain my own standards. “To thy own self … be true.” An old homily, but a true one. And so it goes …

Don’t Piss Off an Ex-Cop

You know what is “neat” about doing Dark Matters here? I do not have to worry about upsetting some “network suit” because they didn’t like what I had to say about something or someone. I reckon people come here and tune in because they know I will tell it just like I see it and let the chips fall where they may.
I promise that I will soon get the following out of my system but right now it is still stirring around. “Huh??” you say? Yeah, that Highgate vampire thing.
If you listened to my interview with one of the names involved, David Farrant, you will know that I was fascinated by this case when I first heard about it. The way it was originally presented to me was that there really was something pretty weird going on. Man, I even talked about Highgate in very general terms in my horror thriller “Past Sins.” I have always enjoyed a good horror novel, and if I get real honest the idea that there really might be some kind of “beastie” lurking in the shadows kind of sent a shiver of delight up my spine!
The more I dug into this Highgate thing, the quicker I realized it was nothing but hype and BS. The other primary name, Sean Manchester, was the guy “screaming” REAL Vampires all over the place. Then some more but disturbing information began to come my way. The feud between Farrant and Manchester is over 3 decades in length, the vitriol is enormous and the colloratal damage is worldwide. When I first mentioned in a public forum that I had some knowledge of the alleged events that took place in Highgate cemetery I suddenly was swamped by private emails warning me to not set off the Sean Manchester faction “Don they will come here and destroy this forum!” I had seen it first hand the year before on the old Patriot Brigade forum and on another venue. Then I began researching this bunch and I recently had one person tell me that they had received a number of “death threats” from someone that did not like a review this person had done on Manchester’s book “The Highgate Vampire.” Then I received an email from Australia.
There is a forum and blog in Australia called “Did a Wampyr Walk in Highgate” and the administrator wrote me a number of weeks ago to advise me that a guy named “Dennis Crawford” who bills himself as the “International Secretary” for Bishop Sean Manchester had attacked and slandered me because of my written report into an inquiry concerning the Highgate vampire case. I wandered over there read what this guy had to say and composed a written response. This thing that really P.O.ed me was he attacking me because of my U.S. Army service in Viet Nam. (you see that is what this Manchester group does, they never address anything questioned about their VAMPIRES but attack the messenger.) I was just another war-mongering American from a war-mongering country and the Right Reverend AND Bishop Sean Manchester was a wonderful peace-loving Christian kind of guy. Well, I had been attacked before because I went to Nam when my country asked me, right after I got back and finally got out of Army hospitals. . . by “peace-loving anti-war protesting Americans.” They were so peace-loving that some of them even spit on me. Yes, I have a long memory concerning that. I don’t need this from some ungrateful boob of a Brit, who either forgot or never knew that several million “war-mongering” Americans came over to the UK in 1943 to save their asses from the rampaging Nazi war machine.
Well, okay. So this Dennis Crawford guy claims I have been slandering the wonderful and peace-loving Right Reverend and since he is an upstanding Bishop and all around good guy, I am in essence just another anti-Christian scum-bag American. It seems like the good International Secretary didn’t like my investigation pointed out that ol’ Bishop Manchester once ran a scam where he claimed he was killed in a duel and solicited the public to send donations to ship his body back to England from France. (they claimed it never happened … until I provided the pictures and flyer. See PDF on front page.)
And most recently good ol’ Dennis took umbrage when I mentioned that Manchester, along with his girlfriend made a amateur movie on an old 8 MM camera called “The Vampire Exhumed.” I was just a lying anti-Christian … until I located this old pamphlet showing Manchester and his girlfriend.

The upshot? Don’t piss off a former cop that knows how to conduct an investigation. You might not like what he finds out about you.

Welcome to the Dark Matters Radio Blog

Oh Boy! I swore I would not do it, but yet here I am. Damn, the last time I did any “blogging” I was writing about a war experience during Viet Nam. I found it really tough to dredge up those memories but I did it as a matter of fact for Dark Matters Radio back when Dwight Schultz and I were doing the show. So, what is happening here?
For 20 years (man, where did the time go?) I was the Director of Research for the publication my wife began, UFO Magazine. Starting back in 1991 I began doing radio and over the years I have hosted a number of radio programs. And, being a medically retired cop, my thing is investigations. And, over the years I have jumped into all kinds of weird and fascinating cases. UFOs of course, creature reports, supernatural events, abductions, missing fetus cases, actually I would have to really think hard to name all the types of stuff I’ve looked into. And, this is the time to let you all know what the next show will be dealing with.
Back in the 1980’s I first heard about something called the Highgate Vampire case. If you are interested in discovering more about this situation, listen to the interview I conducted with David Farrant which you can find on the front page of the Dark Matters site. Now, diving into the Highgate case I encountered the primary fellow who’s name is most closely connected to the Highgate case, Sean Manchester. My paper on the Highgate case will tell you all the why’s and wherefores of what went on, the in’s and the outs. But instead of answering my very legitimate questions they attempted to change the subject by attacking my military service and my time as a soldier in Viet Nam. I was described in essence as being another “war-mongering” American. (They are pacifist Brits in the UK) I suppose in some ways it is humorous, why you ask? Well they (in all seriousness) claim to be actual “honest to God” Vampire Hunters that yes … have staked vampires. Manchester wrote a book on the Highgate case titled “The Highgate Vampire” and swears that yes, there really are such things. The dreaded undead stalk the earth looking to turn all we mere mortals into happy meals. Do I need to state that I was and am skeptical?
I have tried and tried to interview Manchester but he has and is avoiding me, but via his surrogates has attacked my service and my motives. Well, ya can’t please everybody!
My next show will be dedicated to the men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States. Those very people that ensure the rights and freedoms we all enjoy … and many take for granted. I will also make sure that I mention that those Brits today might be speaking either German or Japanese except for those War-Mongering Americans that came and saved their butt’s during WWII. Now, that is something to write about!
